The Nigerian Law Society has asked the Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Law School to review the results of candidates graded “conditional pass” in the 2026 Resit Examination.
According to a Guardian report, the Society’s request was contained in a letter dated 15 August 2026 addressed to the Chairman of the Council of Legal Education and the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School. The Society called for candidates who satisfied the applicable requirements to be granted an unconditional pass.
The issue highlights the importance of transparent, consistent, and reviewable procedures in professional legal education. Any review should be guided by the governing rules, the published results, and equal treatment of candidates.
Further decisions by the relevant legal-education authorities will determine how the request affects the candidates concerned.
