The Court of Appeal in Abuja has set aside a Federal High Court judgment that recognised Alhaji Shehu Gabam as National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
NAN reported that a three-member panel delivered a unanimous decision, declaring the lower-court judgment in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/402/2026 null and void. The appeal was brought by the SDP leadership under Prof. Abubakar Gombe, and the panel’s decision was linked to an earlier Supreme Court ruling in the leadership dispute.
The decision also affirmed the nomination of Dr Francis Ajala as the SDP governorship candidate for Osun, according to the account of the appellants’ counsel reported by NAN. The ruling gives the parties and the Independent National Electoral Commission a clearer judicial position on the dispute.
