Abuja-based lawyer Uchenna Ojembe has called for stronger accountability within Nigeria’s judiciary to support faster and more predictable justice delivery.
In an interview with NAN, Ojembe said judicial officers should be held accountable when courts fail to sit without adequate explanation. He also urged government to appoint more judges and judicial officers so that caseloads can be distributed more equitably.
The lawyer cautioned that public expectations must recognise the need for judges to follow due process. He also stressed the value of public legal education and plain-language explanations of legal concepts, particularly when court outcomes are misunderstood by litigants.
